QA Advisor - Teamleader Focus - Belgium / The Netherlands / Portugal

Job description

Who are we and why should you care?

Teamleader is a SaaS scale-up founded in 2012 in Ghent, Belgium. With Teamleader Focus we simplify work for small businesses by offering an all-in-one solution for CRM, project management and invoicing. Teamleader Orbit, acquired in 2019, focuses on helping medium-sized agencies thrive. By joining forces, we became the logical choice for any business, big or small, that aims to automate and simplify work.

As we’re growing fast, we’re looking for a QA Advisor for Teamleader Focus to strengthen our team.

No waterfall: we treat Quality Assurance differently

At Teamleader we have a unique way of achieving great software quality. Quality is the shared responsibility of cross-functional teams consisting of product owners, designers and developers, and the QA Advisor is the centerpoint of inspiration, guidance and support concerning all aspects Quality for these teams.

We don’t want to focus on bug discovery through repetitive manual testing, but rather aim for bug prevention as soon as we start envisioning new features. We start with high-quality requirements and acceptance criteria, in-depth and collaborative grooming sessions and automation-focused testing, as close to the code as possible.

Your role

As a QA Advisor you proactively advise and support the scrum teams, ensuring high quality from the earliest stages of the development process. You participate during user story refinement meetings to make sure Acceptance Criteria become the Test Plan. You assist the teams to grow and maintain our suite of automated tests and will perform manual spot and sanity checks where you feel these are needed.

You will be the guardian of our zero-bug policy by working closely together with our engineering team, and ensuring each bug logged by customers or colleagues is fixed within two sprints.

By nature, you’re driven to understand our product, how our customers use it, and who they are. Over time, you become a true product expert and explore your own ideas to improve product quality even more.

How does your day look like?

On any particular day you will...

  • Analyse the customer impact of a new feature via business analysis within a Scrum team

  • Create or refine acceptance criteria together with the team, creatively thinking about non-happy-path scenarios to keep our test coverage honest and relevant

  • Organise bug hunt or pair test sessions

  • Implement scriptless UI Automation tests with our automation tool (Mabl)

  • Maintain our test plans when features are updated or when our automation tool detects issues

  • Review customer issues together with Support and take action to grow end-to-end coverage by adding to our test automation suite

Why others chose Teamleader: we're lively, not corporate

  • You are part of a fast-growing company that values getting things done and honest communication. The result: a fast-paced tech environment, open feedback culture, room for initiatives and ideas.
  • We have the energy and boldness of a start-up and the expertise and pragmatism of a scale-up. The result: a team of both young and seasoned professionals led by supportive and approachable managers who give recognition and rewards for hard work. We also value transparency about results and strategy.
  • You have your own personal budget to spend on training or (virtual) events and numerous other internal advantages. The result: continuous growth and learning.
  • You have a pleasant and comfortable workplace within cycling and walking distance of the heart of Ghent or Amsterdam. But we are flexible: working remotely is absolutely no problem. And mandatory since the world got hit by COVID-19.

Even in COVID times, Teamleader is a happy, purposeful place. While we miss our shared kitchen and sunlit terrace, our setup allowed for a swift change to a functional and engaging remote work environment. We compensate for social distance with quizzes, cocktails delivered at home, informal chats and events, work-time flexibility, competitions, extra coaching and everything else you can think of.

Sounds like something for you? You’d be a great fit if you;

  • Have 2-3 years of working experience in functional testing or analysis

  • Are passionate about quality, testing methodologies and root-cause analysis

  • Possess business analytical skills as well as attention to detail

  • Have great verbal and written communication skills in English. (NL/FR are a plus)

  • Boast a can-do, make-it-happen attitude

For this role we require candidates to be located within the EU and have a current and valid work permit.
